New Things

Why is it that as we get older, it is harder to pick up a different kind of book and read it? or listen to a different style of music? or mow our grass a different way?

It's so easy to get stuck in a routine and not seek out new things and adventure, yet I think this is the one thing a lot of us need. Listen to the other side of that political debate with open ears, listen to someone else's view on that thing you hate. Listen, learn, and integrate.

some people seem to be so disinterested in life.

they go through the ropes of the day as if there was no joy in being alive.

of course there will be days you may not want to smile, but please follow this with a day of extra and unordinary gratification.

to live a happy life is a choice, so why not?

poke the box

It's hard to start things. It's easy to talk and to think of things to start, but the actual starting part... yeah about that.

I feel like I'm at the beginning of something big, but I'm too afraid to start.

Have you ever felt like there's something better out there for you, but it's just too easy to lie in your comfortable misery?

getting sidetracked, the enemy of accomplishment

I wonder how many times a day I set out to do something, but get sidetracked in some way or another.

Perhaps I need to focus on my every movement, my every thought. Keeping these things in check and accountable to what I really need to do.

I suppose realizing this flaw is the first step.

This quote from our neighbor from the past, Mr. Samuel Langhorne Clemens, has been at work on my mind the last few days. I don't want to be a man with many regrets. I want to take hold of my opportunities in the present day, before the present day turns into yesterday. To take risks, calculated risks. To take hold of my life, not to be a drifter.

It turns out this test I took online just told me I'm more left-brained then right-brained.

resurrection

a comeback. a second chance. a resurrection.

It's like one of those feel good movies.
The man gets hurt during his prime... goes down, he looks like he's out for good.
then.
almost out of nowhere, almost a year later!
He's back.
maybe not in the same tip top shape he once was, but he's back.

only time will tell if he stays or fades away again.

So I just finished getting artwork for all the albums on my itunes... now that's a good start to a day.
